Cold night

First real night time test's with my D800 and Nikon 16-35 mm f/4.0. There was some weird magenta light streak in top of the frame at ISO 3200, but it was relatively easy to adjust the color back to the rest of the image. I guess it is only visible with this lens also. Had no similar problems with the Sigma 50 mm f/1.4.

Below is a dual exposure night photo. Foreground was shot much longer time with ISO 100 and the sky and the stars were with settings: ISO 3200 30 secs. at 16 mm. The final image is quite high in resolution. 7360 x 7360 pixels. I'm really glad of the resolution I can get with the D800. Now I just need good photos to print! I sure will be looking to print one of my new images to see it in full glory in 100 cm x 100 cm.

I'm planning on making a exhibition with my edge -series of photos. I just need few more new pictures and I think it will be a good set.

If you have any good advice on a gallery near Helsinki for my exhibition drop me an email or message here.

Got a friend in Helsinki who may be able to help with galleries. Let me know if you'd like to be put in contact with her.

  2. Wonderful pictures, as always.

Here are some suggestions for your exhibition, though they are not dedicated art galleries :

    - Sanomatalo : in 2012, I have seen a photo exhibition in the open space on the ground floor. They were nature / macro shots from Jouko Lehmuskallio (NatureGate / Luontoportti). There was many small size prints and a couple of large ones. Preview :

    - Villa Elfvik : seen an exhibition "Saariston kevät", again nature photography but more landscape / fauna than macro. The room is quite small, they could fit around 20 prints.

If you are going for something bigger, I hope somebody else can advise you. Can't wait to see your exhibition.

  4. One more option is Laterna Magica. Not so usual type of a gallery. http://www.laterna.net/

  6. I had this magenta streaks on the both top angles, left and right on my old D80. It was pretty hard to manage in the post. Streaks appears at any ISO settings, but only if i shoot more than 90 sec.

    It's something i didn't see from d7000 and d700.
